Accellos Named in 2013 Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 for 3rd Year
100 List highlights technology implementations that have had a transformative impact on supply chain companies
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – May 13, 2013 – Accellos, a leading provider of supply chain execution software solutions, today announced that it has been included in the 2013 Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 by Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine. This year marks the third consecutive time Accellos has received the distinction.
The 12th annual Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 list is comprised of “100 Great Supply Chain Projects,” which highlights technology implementations that have had a transformative impact on supply chain companies. The 2013 Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 are supply chain solution and service providers that are helping their customers and clients achieve supply chain excellence. They have produced measurable gains in ROI through cost-cutting and increased efficiency, whether in warehouse, transportation, procurement sourcing or any other category in the end-to-end supply chain.
“Our goal with this year’s ’100′ is to put the spotlight on successful and innovative transformation projects that are delivering bottom-line value to small, medium and large enterprises across the different functions that comprise the supply chain,” said Barry Hochfelder, Editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “The projects featured in the ’100′ article can serve as a roadmap for supply chain executives looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations.”
Through an online submission process, Supply & Demand Chain Executive collected information on supply chain transformation projects, including the objectives, scope, timeline and results of the project. The submissions were evaluated by the magazine’s editorial staff primarily based on: ambitiousness/scope of the project; creative application of technologies/solutions/services used; extent of the business results/impact; and clarity of submission.
Accellos’ submission included its case study of Suburban London, United Kingdom-based customer Europa Worldwide Logistics. With almost two decades experience as a public warehouse operator, managing inventory and logistics for companies ranging from elite London fashion houses to cleaning products distributors, management at Europa Worldwide Logistics faced a fresh set of challenges when approached by a new wine retailer. The retailer was leaving the traditional wine distribution method in favor of a web-based model. This was to be done by offering a huge selection of product from wine-producing venues world-wide; do so at costs well below conventional retail; and deliver orders next-day and sometimes even within hours of the time an order was received.
Europa examined a number of logistics software alternatives, including AccellosOne Enterprise 3PL. According to Europa CEO Russell Keep, The Accellos system satisfied 90 percent of their stated requirements which allowed Europa to tailor their production processes and provide an extremely high level of efficiency through computer control.
Under the Accellos system, the wine contract is operating smoothly, with no capacity problems and allows the company to charge the client by the number of individual picks – whether wine or auxiliary content. Productivity has soared: in all of 2010, Europa shipped 274,000 orders for the wine client, and in December 2011 alone, the company handled 107,000 orders. Keep projected that December 2012 shipments would surpass those of 2011, with total shipments exceeding 634,000 orders for the year. The Accellos software has made it possible for just one person to administer the wine account despite volumes having grown over five times since its inception. Additionally, Europa has been able to maintain its operating costs throughout these significant increases.
“It is an honor to be included in this year’s Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100,” said Michael Cornell, CEO of Accellos. “Accellos is especially excited about this award because it recognizes how our software has helped Europa yield significant results in client satisfaction and streamlined operations.”
