Throughout its 60-year history, Arthur Schuman has committed itself to one simple goal: being the best Italian-style hard cheese company in the United States. To that end, Arthur Schuman imports, produces, processes, and distributes award-winning, Italian-style hard cheese. Hard cheese varieties include Asiago, Parmesan, and Romano. The company also produces soft cheeses such as Gorgonzola, Mascarpone and Ricotta.
Enter Ray Cocito. Hired five years ago as Arthur Schuman’s Director of Information Technology, Ray says Arthur Schuman is a great place to work. “Arthur Schuman has been in business a long time, has a wonderful reputation, and is growing rapidly, but while the company has always prided itself on the quality of its products, its systems did not match the company’s growth,” says Ray.
When Ray joined Arthur Schuman, the company had a WMS that was integrated with Microsoft Dynamics GP, the enterprise resource planning software Arthur Schuman uses to manage every aspect of its operations.“There were a lot of issues with the previous WMS,” says Ray. “Inventory was all over the place. The WMS said one thing, the ERP said something else. So, even though the systems were integrated, the integration wasn’t really working for us.”
The company’s largest facility in Elgin was the first to go live; it employs 250 people and often runs three shifts to meet the needs of some very large-scale companies, as well as other customers of all sizes.“Elgin has been running AccellosOne WMS for two and a half years and is fully integrated with Dynamics GP,” says Ray
Since implementing Accellos, Arthur Schuman has realized several important benefits, including increased inventory accuracy rates. “There are significant dollar savings as a result of having an accurate inventory and knowing where everything is,” says Ray.
